VAPOR HONING

what is vapor honing

Vapor honing is a surface refinishing process that combines water, compressed air and abrasives to clean and restore surfaces.  It leaves a smooth clean finish and is much more gentle to the surface than dry sanding.  It’s perfect for restoration work because it makes the metal surface look like new but does not remove or warp metal like sandblasting can.  It preserves casting artifacts and stamping, keeping that original look so important.

Wet versus dry

Vapor honing vs sandblasting

Vapor Honing:  is the process of using high pressure water mixed with fine ceramic beads or glass beads to create a smooth finish on metal surfaces.  It is gentler than sand/dry blasting, as the water acts as a cushion for the ceramic beads creating a smoother, cleaner, and finer finish. You can also clean, de-grease and blast your surface all in one step.

Sand Blasting:  is the process of forcibly propelling sand or abrasive material to remove surface contamination.  This process will not clean or de-grease.  This process produces a rougher finish, creates dust & has a risk of warping your product.
